Privacy as a constitutional right was ruled in 2017 by the Supreme Court of India. Based on this, India took EU’s General Data Privacy Regulation as a foundation for the global digital businesses to conduct businesses in India. With the inclusion of India’s diversity with regional nature, the legislation on Data Protection Bill (DPB) is in the process of being passed. This would control the collection, processing, storage, usage, transfer, protection, and disclosure of personal data of Indian residents.
